ReStore Manager

Summary: This position maintains overall responsibility for operations and strategy for the ReStore retail and Deconstruction Services including achieving our mission while creating and maintaining an operating surplus and meeting aggressive growth targets.
Position Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

• Take lead in planning, budgeting and implementation of sustainable growth to achieve long-term success.
• Recruit/hire/train/supervise/motivate staff of 12-20 employees including up to 2 ass’t managers, Deconstruction Supervisor, store and deconstruction staff.
• Perform hands-on day-to-day operations (material handling, customer service, sales, inventory, opening and closing, truck driving, deconstruction)
• Provide financial and performance accountability and reporting. Review and approve all invoices and purchase orders and submit to fiscal department.
• Manage policy and procedure documentation, orientation and training.
• Responsible to maintain safe conditions for employees and the public and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Oversee proper maintenance and improvements of all buildings, equipment, vehicles and tools.
ReStore
• Oversee ReStore experience including: customer service, retail experience, merchandising and layout.
• Oversee daily store operations, successful implementation of and compliance with store policies and procedures, and educational/mission-driven initiatives.
• Perform all store duties including sales, stocking and display, inventory, unloading trucks, driving forklift, operating pallet jack, driving box truck, opening and closing.
• Manage staff levels and problem-solve daily schedule changes to meet operational needs and budget.
• Oversee move and set up of operations in new facility including store fixtures, equipment, and inventory.
• Oversee design, implementation and management of CRM/Inventory/Donation Tracking software system.
• Formulate pricing policies on merchandising according to requirements for profitability of retail operations.
• Encourage, assist, and train employees to become a motivated sales force.
• Oversee planning and implementation of additional locations in the future as warranted.

Deconstruction:

• Work with Deconstruction Supervisor maintaining and overseeing deconstruction bids and negotiates new bids.
• Coordinate scheduling staff, equipment, facility and truck resources between store and deconstruction jobs.
• Inspect property under deconstruction on a regular basis when possible to ensure the work conforms to specifications, budget and schedule and initiates any adjustment of working procedures.
• Interpret specifications and company policies to subordinates and/or contractors and enforces safety regulations.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED – College degree preferred
Minimum 5 years home improvement retail experience
Minimum 5 years deconstruction/construction experience
Minimum 2 years supervisory management experience in home improvement retail
Minimum 2 years experience in managing cash business
Minimum 2 years contractor services management experience
Minimum 2 years computer experience with word processing, spreadsheet and databases; preferably in Microsoft Word/Excel.
In-depth knowledge of value and use of home improvement materials
Management style - hands-on, friendly, flexible, motivational, high-achieving
Ability to switch tasks quickly and often
Experience with CRM and inventory software
Excellent communication skills
Strong commitment to non-profit community mission of the ReStore
Community involvement
Work-style - professional, hard-work ethic, flexible, entrepreneurial, works well with others
Excellent driving record, valid MA drivers license
Physically able to lift heavy objects (75 pounds) on a regular and repeated basis; move freely (including twisting, bending, kneeling, squatting, etc.) to perform job duties; and operate pallet jack, dolly, forklift and other moving equipment
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Truck driving experience preferred

Deconstruction Supervisor

Summary: This position is responsible for bidding, scheduling and supervising ReStore deconstruction activities while achieving our mission to reuse valuable materials through donations of deconstructed homes and buildings. This position reports to the ReStore Manager.

Position Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

• Use and refine established procedure to bid on possible deconstruction jobs
• Work with ReStore Manager and Marketing and Sales Manager to adjust work scope and pricing for potential jobs as needed
• Ensure all required permits, insurance certificates, safety checks etc. are in place prior to commencing work
• Schedule and supervise staff and deployment of equipment and materials to successfully complete jobs on time and on budget
• Work with manager to coordinate truck resources between store and deconstruction jobs
• Maintain safe conditions for employees and the public
• Continually inspect construction site to ensure compliance with codes and regulations as required
• Develop, update and document safety and regulatory compliance procedures
• Hire, supervise and motivate staff engaged in planning and executing work procedures. Maintain communication, arrange meetings to keep staff informed
• Analyze and resolve work problems, including worker complaints and grievances
• Provide deconstruction clients with outstanding customer service
• Review and approve all invoices, time sheets, travel reimbursement pertaining to deconstruction site, submit all approved bills per established procedure.
• Oversee proper maintenance and improvements of equipment, vehicles and tools used for deconstruction
• Complete inventory tracking and tax receipt paperwork for each job
• Perform all deconstruction duties side by side with the rest of the crew - including hand demolition, de-nailing, separating construction waste, loading/unloading trucks, driving trucks and equipment (extension forklift)

Required Qualifications:

• MA Licensed Construction Supervisor, Certified in EPA Lead-Safe Program and OSHA 10 hour accredited
• Minimum five years of construction experience
• Minimum two years of construction supervisor experience bidding jobs and running a crew, ideally as an employee of a construction business or non-profit organization (not self-employed)
• Ability to use excellent judgment with regards to safety and best practices
• Ability to supervise deconstruction laborers with a particular emphasis on safety, efficiency,customer service and appearance
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong commitment to non-profit community and environmental mission of the ReStore and CET
• Physically able to lift heavy objects (75 pounds) and use hand and small power tools on a regular and repeated basis for ten hour work days in all weather conditions; move freely (including twisting, bending, kneeling, squatting, etc.) to perform job duties; and operate pallet jack, dolly, forklift and other moving equipment
• Excellent driving record, valid MA drivers license, automobile
• Truck driving experience and ability to drive box trucks and flatbed trucks
• Experience operating construction equipment including extension forklift and bobcat
• Good knowledge of value and use of home improvement materials
• Computer word processing, spreadsheet and database skills

This is a full-time hourly position with wages commensurate with experience and generous benefits including health insurance, paid vacation, 12 paid holidays, and sick leave. Significant evening, weekend and holiday work may be required as well as overnight travel throughout southern New England. CET is an equal opportunity employer.
